Rory Gallagher è l’uomo che, senza ombra di dubbio, ha guidato e influenzato tutto il movimento rock irlandese. La sua musica è diventata una religione ed ha catturato tutto il pubblico dal Nord Europa alla Spagna, dal Giappone agli Stati Uniti, coprendo ogni parte del globo e producendo alcuni dei migliori album rock/blues degli anni ‘60, ‘70 e ‘80.

Sorprendente come, quasi 15 anni dopo la sua morte, la sua musica non sia mai stata così popolare come ora grazie ai suoi fedeli seguaci che continuano a mantenerla viva, basti pensare alle numerose band che sono nate in tributo a lui e alla sua musica.The Band of Friends non è un tributo a Rory ma una celebrazione alla sua vita e alla sua musica,un’idea nata da musicisti che hanno suonato con lui durante la sua carriera quali Gerry McAvoy, Ted McKenna e Marcel Scherpenzeel.


Gerry McAvoy È stato il bassista del leggendario artista dal 1971 al 1991 e un fattore costante in tutti e 14 gli album di Rory. Nessuno meglio di lui ha potuto conoscerlo veramente condividendo tutto il periodo creativo della sua vita.
Definito spesso come il musicista dei musicisti è stato il braccio destro di Rory per oltre 20 anni, durante la sua carriera ha avuto l’opportunità di incontrare e suonare con delle vere leggende da Muddy Waters, John Mayall e Van Morrison a Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Deep Purple, Rod Stewart, ZZ Top, Rush, Eric Clapton, Sting and U2. 
A seguito della malattia di Rory e la morte è stato reclutato per riformare il leggendario gruppo Nine Below Zero con il quale ha registrato numerosi successi. Ha anche scritto un libro, pubblicato nel 2005, “Riding Shotgun” (www.ridingshotgun.co.uk) scritto durante la sua esperienza in tour con Rory Gallagher.

 

Ted McKenna Membro originario del The Sensational Alex Harvey Band si è guadagnato la reputazione di uno dei più originali batteristi al mondo richiamando l’attenzione di Rory Gallagher con il quale intraprese una collaborazione di ben 5 anni.
In ben 43 anni si carriera si è esibito in tutto il mondo a fianco dei più grandi nomi quali Michael Schenker, Tear Gas, Ian Gillan, Greg Lake, Gary Moore, Womack e Womack e molti altri.
Marcel Scherpenzeel Cresciuto sotto l’nfluenza musicale di John Lee Hooker, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, è proprio con quest’ultimo che si ritrova a dividere lo stage.Descritto come ”This is the closest guitarist to Rory you will ever hear”, collabora anche con grandi nomi quali aveGonzales (The Paladins - USA), Ron Hacker (USA), Tineke Schoenmaker (NL), The Juke Joints (NL), The Marble Tones (NL), The Hoax (UK)  e molti altri. Sito ufficiale: www.bandoffriends.eu
